New KEVI Sports Facility Revamp Underway

Within the investment by Cheviot Learning Trust for buildings in the 2024/25 year, The King Edward VI School is receiving a much-needed sports facility revamp.

Northumberland County Council gave the go-ahead for the new Sports Hall earlier in the year, and the highly anticipated development is making good progress. Having their own sports hall allows for the school to accommodate their ambitious PE curriculum during the winter months, as well as provide excellent sports facilities for the wider community.

The improvement at the school has been supported by Northumberland County Council through an investment for next year. The school and Trust has worked closely with its officers for a number of years to develop these plans and gain approval for the project.

Alongside the sports hall, The King Edward VI School will be opening a new 3G facility for their students and the wider community. Rachel Shaw, subject leader for PE at KEVI said, “Our students strive for excellence and need improved facilities if they are going to continue to excel. This is a very exciting time for us all and we can’t wait to see the impact it will have on our students and local community in the future.”

We expect the facilities to be completed towards the end of 2025. The new sports facilities are expected to make a huge difference to future generations of students and staff at the school.
