Christmas at Cheviot Learning Trust

Across all of our schools, Christmas is being celebrated in many different ways. Amid a wide variety of activities, here is just a flavour of some of the things that have been celebrated in schools this December:

The King Edward VI School held its annual school carol service on Tuesday 19th December, a traditional carol service starting and ending in candlelight and featuring the King Edwards Choir and Brass Ensemble.

Stobhillgate First School felt full of festive cheer after a visit to Sanderson Arcade in Morpeth on 11th December to sing Christmas carols! They raised £146 which will be put towards school funds.

Some of the KS2 school councillors at Highfield Middle School visited Red Brick House on 15th December. They met many of the residents, played Christmas bingo, drew their Christmas raffle, gave out Christmas cards, sang some Christmas songs and even had a little dance!

Thropton Village First School put on a fantastic performance of Lights, Camel, Action. All of the children were amazing and the Friends of Thropton School - raised £340 from refreshments, baking and a raffle!

A Christmas Play - “Christmas Counts” was put on by Harbottle C of E First School. During the play, a raffle raised £200 which will be split between the Hedgehog Society and another animal charity to be chosen by the children in the New Year.

Abbeyfields First School nursery class performed their Christmas nativity play for their family and friends, while Year 4 made their own focaccia from scratch, and put on a Christmas Service along with Mustard Tree Trust and Reverand and Rector of Morpeth, Simon White.

Over at Morpeth All Saints Church of England Aided First School, KS1 had a wonderful Christingle assembly, students attended a Christmas Disco, and were encouraged to wear Christmas Jumpers one day to school! All classes also participated in Christmas crafts, including festive scented dough, Christmas stick wreaths, and wooden reindeer!

Broomley First School started December off with some Christmas reading lists, including Percy the Post-Penguin, How Winston Delivered Christmas, Santa Gets A Second Job, and The Christmas Carol. In addition, Christmas Jumper Day took place in aid of raising money for Save The Children!

A 12 Days of Christmas raffle took place at Whittonstall First School, with prizes including a Barbour jacket, M&S voucher, Hampers, a Sweet Things voucher, and more!

Wylam First School has a Christmas Service and a special visit from Santa on his Sleigh! All years had their own Christmas parties and performances early in the month, along with Christmas dinner. Christmas dinner was a great time, with children wearing festive jumpers whilst having a Christmas meal!

Our middle schools and older pupils joined in on the Christmas fun over at Newminster Middle School, with Christmas songs playing from their steel pan bands! Songs included Silent Night, Little Donkey and Sway.

It’s great to see so many of our schools getting into the Christmas spirit and enjoying their time at school. We hope all our staff, pupils, and families have a great Christmas time and a Happy New Year!
